Eagles Set To Play Three Games This Week Starting Monday

DURHAM, N.C. - North Carolina Central will play three women's basketball games in six days this week, starting with a road contest against Delaware State on Monday, Feb. 24, at 5:30 p.m.

The Eagles will visit Maryland Eastern Shore on Wednesday, Feb. 26, at 5:30 p.m. before returning home on Saturday, March 1, against Howard at 2 p.m. All three MEAC games will be livestreamed on ESPN+.

The game against UMES was originally scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 22, but was moved to Wednesday due to weather conditions.

The Eagles are fourth in the MEAC standings at 4-5. They are looking to finish strong entering the MEAC Tournament, which is set for March 12-15 in Norfolk, Va.

The tandem of Callahan and sophomore guard Kyla Bryant have paced the Eagles (7-17, 4-5 MEAC) this season. Callahan is 7th in scoring (13.3 ppg), 3rd in rebounding (7.4 rpg) and tied for third in blocked shots (1.2 bpg) while logging the second-most minutes (35.8) in the league.

Freshman guard Shakiria Foster averages 11 points and 1.5 steals per game. Sophomore guard Aysia Hinton is shooting 35.4 percent from three-point land which is 6th best in the conference. Sophomore guard-forward Jada Tiggett is tied for the league lead in blocks per game (2.1). NCCU, led by Tiggett and Callahan, is second in the MEAC in blocks.

Delaware State (5-19, 1-9 MEAC) is led by Kiarra MceIrath (13.1 ppg) and Mahogany Cottingham (12.6 ppg), who are 8th and 9th, respectively, in the MEAC in scoring. Maryland Eastern Shore (8-16, 3-6 MEAC) features Zamara Haynes, who averages 11.4 points per game.

The Eagles topped both teams at home earlier in the season. They defeated UMES 92-86 in double overtime on Jan. 11 and beat Delaware State 76-71 on Jan. 13.
