Spring Slate Released for Men’s Tennis

DURHAM, N.C. – With the fall semester over, the North Carolina Central men's tennis spring schedule has been announced by director of tennis and men's head coach D. Curtis Lawson. The Eagles are set to play 19 regular-season matches, 13 of which are in-state, and NCCU hosts six.

NC Central opens the new year with three local road matches at Duke (Jan. 18), North Carolina (Jan. 28) and NC State (Feb. 1). The Eagles then travel to Greensboro, N.C. to face UNCG and Guilford, both on Feb. 7, before closing the road stretch at Campbell on Feb. 14.

For the Eagles' first home match, they welcome Davidson to the Cary Tennis Park on Feb. 22 and then visit UNC Asheville on Feb. 28.

NCCU will spend its spring break competing in Orlando, Fla. The four opponents during the trip are Hampton (March 8), Howard (March 10), St. Thomas (March 11) and Fairfield (March 12).

The Maroon & Gray return home to battle Longwood on March 26 before heading to the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Round-Up in Norfolk, Va. Coppin State (March 28) and Morgan State (March 29) are the remaining northern teams that the Eagles are scheduled to play at the event.

South Carolina State visits NC Central on April 6, before taking a break in conference action to welcome rivals North Carolina A&T on April 9. The Eagles wrap up regular-season action at home against Norfolk State (April 11) and Shaw (April 17). Shaw's match will be the only home competition on NCCU's court, as the rest will be played at Cary Tennis Park.

NCCU hosts the MEAC Tennis Championships again in Cary, N.C. on April 23-25, as the conference champion will be crowned.
