NCCU Women’s Basketball Makes Short Trip To North Carolina In Season Opener

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central tips off the 2025-26 women's basketball season on Monday (Nov. 3) against nationally-ranked North Carolina at Carmichael Auditorium in Chapel Hill, N.C., at 11 a.m. The non-conference contest will be livestreamed on ACC Network Extra. UNC is giving away complimentary tickets on a first-come, first-serve basis for its Field Trip Day.

This will be the ninth meeting in the season series against UNC, ranked 11th in the USA Today Sports preseason Top 25 women's basketball coaches' poll. The Tar Heels are one of three preseason nationally ranked teams on NCCU's schedule with the others being No. 2 South Carolina and No. 7 Oklahoma.

The Eagles will be led a veteran nucleus featuring forward Morgan Callahan, the MEAC Preseason Player of the Year. Callahan, a first-team preseason All-MEAC selection, has over 1,000 points and 700 rebounds in her collegiate career, one of two Eagles to reach both milestones in the NCAA Division I era.

Also returning are guards Shakiria Foster and Aysia Hinton and forward Aniya Finger. Foster was named preseason All-MEAC second team and both Hinton and Finger were third-team selections. Foster and Hinton were among the conference's top three-point shooters a year ago, and Finger missed last season due to injury after a strong 2023-24 campaign.

NCCU, with seven returnees and eight newcomers, have been picked to finish fourth in the conference. The Eagles are led by third-year Head Coach Terrence Baxter.

RECORDS
NCCU – 0-0 overall
North Carolina – 0-0 overall
