DURHAM, N.C. – After 15 years, North Carolina Central will resume its women's basketball season series against Wake Forest in Winston-Salem, N.C., on Thursday, Nov. 20. The non-conference contest against the ACC program will start at 8 p.m. inside the Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
The game can be seen on the ACC Network.
Both teams will meet again for the first time since 2010. Wake Forest leads the series 6-1 with the Eagles' lone win coming at home in 1977 by a 69-60 score.
The Eagles (1-3 overall) would like nothing better than to repeat their success of 48 years ago. They will rely on the inside duo of
Aniya Finger and
Morgan Callahan, the passing of
Najah Lane and the outside shooting of
Aysia Hinton.
Finger averages a team-high 12.5 points and Hinton, the MEAC leader in making three-pointers, is scoring at 10.5 points a clip off the bench. Callahan averages 8.0 points and a team-high 7.5 rebounds and Lane is averaging a MEAC-best 5.5 assists.
The Demon Deacons (4-0) are seeking their first 5-0 start since the 2021-22 season when they won their first seven games. Mary Carter and Grace Oliver pace the Deacs with 12.2 scoring averages and Milan Brown is the team leader in rebounds per game (7.2) and is tied in steals per game (1.8).
The Eagles are visiting their second ACC and Power Four team in five games. They will face four Power Four schools this season.
