NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central nearly swept the final week of MEAC weekly volleyball awards on Monday.
The Eagles won three of four honors as
Kamren Harper earned Player of the Week,
Loren Johnson secured Defensive Player of the Week and
Manuela Cripa Nasser claimed Setter of the Week.
All three players were instrumental in the Eagles' 3-0 victory over South Carolina State on Senior Day over the weekend. Harper tallied 21 kills and 11 digs for her ninth double-double this season, Johnson registered 19 digs and seven assists and Cripa Nasser finished with 36 assists, seven digs and one solo block.
Both Harper and Cripa Nasser ended the regular season with two MEAC weekly honors each while Johnson won her first award.
Each player enters the MEAC Championship Tournament this week ranked high in the league statistics. Harper ranks second in kills per set (3.94) and third in points per set (4.28). Cripa Nasser ranks second in assists per set (9.19) and Johnson is second in digs per set (3.92).
The trio keyed the Eagles to their second 10-win season since becoming full MEAC members in 2011.
