Lattimore Repeats as MEAC Player of the Week

NORFOLK, Va. – Two weeks into the season, North Carolina Central men's basketball guard Gage Lattimore has been named the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Player of the Week for the second time, announced by the conference on Monday. Lattimore's career-high 38 points over Bluefield State helped secure the offensive award.

The sophomore averaged 25.0 points against BSU and North Carolina last week. Lattimore shot 9-of-12 from beyond the arc versus Bluefield State, totaling 12-of-17 from the field last Wednesday.

The last time an Eagle finished with nine three-point field goals was in 1995, done by head coach LeVelle Moton. Lattimore now sits second in single-game records for three-point field goals, along with Moton, behind only Reggie Groves, who went 10-of-13 in 2013.

At North Carolina last Friday, Lattimore scored 12 points, coming alive in the second half at the Smith Center. He has scored in double figures in all five games this season.

Lattimore sits in the top three of several statistical categories in the MEAC. He's first in three-point field goal percentage (53.7 percent), free throw percentage (100 percent), minutes (38.2 mpg) and second in scoring (21.6 ppg).
