CARY, N.C. – On the final day of competition at Cary Tennis Park, Valeria San Miguel Soria and Sara Barbaric of the North Carolina Central women's tennis team captured the MEAC Invitational Championship in doubles. The pair faced off against teammates Alejandra Hidalgo Vega and Mariana Zottoli for the title.
In black uniforms, San Miguel Soria and Barbaric stood opposite of the net of Zottoli and Hidalgo Vega, who donned gray uniforms. Ultimately, Barbaric and San Miguel Soria triumphed 6-3, 6-2 on the court in the all-Eagle affair.
NCCU's men's team was also represented as Rodrigo Alves and Tim Kohl competed in the men's doubles final. The duo would fall in two straight sets of 6-2, finishing runners-up in the conference.
With Saturday's win, San Miguel Soria and Barbaric earned an automatic qualifying spot in doubles at the ITA Conference Masters in San Diego, Calif. on Nov. 6-9.
