NCCU Cross Country Back At WakeMed Soccer Park For HBCU Challenge

DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central returns to WakeMed Soccer Park for the Cedric Walker HBCU Cross Country Challenge in Cary, N.C. on Friday, Oct. 3. The women's 5K race begins at 4:40 p.m. followed by the men's 8K race at 5:10 p.m.

ABOUT THE MEET
The HBCU Challenge is held in conjunction with the Great American Cross Country Festival, set for Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, in Cary, N.C. The Great American Cross Country Festival is a major national invitational event which features collegiate, high school and middle school races.

Men's and women's teams scheduled to run in the HBCU meet includes Elizabeth City State, Fayetteville State, Livingstone, Morgan State, North Carolina A&T, Shaw, South Carolina State (men), Maryland Eastern Shore, Virginia State, Virginia Union and Winston-Salem State in addition to NCCU, the defending men's champion.

LAST YEAR'S MEET
NCCU won the men's 8K race and placed second in the women's 5K race in the Cedric Walker HBCU Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park on Oct. 4, 2024. Meshack Kuyo of NCCU was the men's individual champion.

ADMISSION AND PARKING
No charge for admission and parking on Friday, the day of the HBCU Challenge.

LAST TIME OUT
NCCU competed in the adidas Cross Country Challenge at WakeMed Soccer Park on Sept. 19. Ryan Chong placed among the top 50 finishers (45th out of 158) in the men's 6K race and Laila Jackson was the top Eagles' runner (95th out of 147) in the women's 5K race.
