NCCU Releases 2025 Softball Schedule

DURHAM, N.C. - Three early season tournaments and 10 home games highlight the 2025 North Carolina Central University softball schedule, which was released Thursday (Jan. 9). 

NCCU will hit the road during the first half of the schedule. The Eagles begin the season Feb. 6-8  in the Elon Softball Classic where they will take on Ohio and UNC Greensboro on Feb. 6, Ohio State on Feb. 7 and Elon on Feb. 8. The site of the Elon Classic is Elon, N.C.

The Eagles travel again the following week to the HBCU Collegiate Invitational, set for Feb. 14-16 in Covington, Ga. Their opponents will be Southern and Alcorn State on Feb. 14, Prairie View A&M and Florida A&M on Feb. 15 and Grambling State on Feb. 16.

N.C. Central will play both archrival North Carolina A&T (Feb. 19) and Longwood (Feb. 23) away before embarking on a three-game road series against Campbell on Feb. 28-March 1. A road doubleheader against Gardner-Webb is set for March 4.

The Eagles will play UNC Greensboro again, this time in the UNCG Tournament on March 7-8 in Greensboro, N.C. NCCU squares off against UNCG and Michigan twice in the two-day tourney.

After the UNCG Tournament, the Eagles will travel to Western Carolina for a doubleheader on March 11. 

NCCU hosts its home opener on March 12 against North Carolina A&T in a rematch.

The Eagles start their MEAC schedule against Howard in a three-game series on March 15-16. This begins a stretch of games against MEAC opponents. NCCU hosts Norfolk State (March 22-23), Morgan State (April 5-6) and Maryland Eastern Shore (April 12-13) and visits Coppin State (March 29-30), Delaware State (April 18-19) and South Carolina State (April 26-27). All MEAC matchups are three-game series.

Sandwiched between the conference games are road contests at East Carolina on March 18 and Appalachian State on April 22.

NCCU, led by new Head Coach Now-Allah James, returns 12 players from last year's squad that posted a 14-7 conference mark and reached the MEAC Tournament semifinals. The Eagles added eight newcomers including seven freshmen.
