DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis coach Sofia Rachi announced a new signee, Mariana Zottoli, coming to campus in the fall of 2024.
Zottoli hails from San Miguel de Tucamán, Argentina where she attended Sistema de Educación a Distancia del Ejército Argentino (SEADEA) for high school. She also trains at the Tandil Tenis Academia under the instruction of Marcelo Gomez.
The incoming Eagle's highest junior ranking in the International Tennis Federation (ITF) was in the top 200 internationally and she was also a top-five ranked competitor in Argentina among talent 18 and under.
Zottoli has a range of experience on the ITF World Tennis Tour stage facing junior competition. In 2022, she won the J4 Lima Regatas Junior Open in Peru as a four-seed.
During the 2023 ITF tour season, Zottoli was crowned both doubles and singles champion at the J30 Tucamán in her hometown. She also saw success at the J200 Punta Del Este (Uruguay), J60 Villa María (Argentina) and J2 Santiago (Chile) making the quarterfinals in each tournament along with other triumphs on the tour as well.
