NCCU Women’s Tennis Shutout at Davidson

DAVIDSON, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team was defeated 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Davidson College. The match was the second competition in two days for the Eagles.

Davidson (4-2) came into the contest with two losses in a row and started the match against the Eagles winning the first point in doubles competition.

With NCCU (0-8) dueling in another play-to-clinch match on the road, only three singles matches were completed.

Senior Jade Houston battled in No.1 singles but fell with a pair of 6-3 sets. Freshman Gabriela Mejia Arenas dropped a 6-3, 6-1 match and senior Isabelle Exsted suffered defeat from her opponent 6-0, 6-3.

Saturday's match was the final one on the road for women's tennis this regular season. The only other matches that NCCU will play away from campus will be in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Roundup at the end of March. The NC Central hosted event will be played in Cary, N.C.

The Eagles will have close to a week to prepare for their next match as Hampton University visits on Friday, Feb. 23 at noon.
