NCCU Named National Team of the Week, Ranked in Two Polls

DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University football program was named the HBCU+ National Team of the Week on Monday, two days after the Eagles notched their third straight win.

In addition, N.C. Central is now ranked in both prominent FCS polls.

The Eagles (4-2, 1-0 MEAC) upended Campbell 45-14 behind three touchdown passes from quarterback Walker Harris and a 68-yard punt return touchdown from Darryl Taylor. It was a complete effort for N.C. Central, which held the Camels to 281 yards of total offense.

After receiving votes in both the AFCA FCS Coaches Poll and Stats Perform FCS Top 25 Poll this season, the Eagles are now ranked in both. N.C. Central vaulted into No. 24 in the AFCA poll, while coming in at No. 25 in the Stats Perform Poll.

This is N.C. Central's first national ranking since ending last season No. 18 in the AFCA poll and No. 20 in the Stats Perform rankings.

HBCU+ is the popular streaming platform of Urban Edge Network, offering 24/7 access to live and on-demand HBCU sports events, original sports shows, curated films, podcasts and more.

The Eagles return to O'Kelly-Riddick Stadium this Saturday to square off against Virginia-Lynchburg. Kickoff is set for 2 p.m., and the game will air live on ESPN+.
