BALTIMORE, Md. – The North Carolina Central University volleyball team (3-11, 1-2 MEAC) could not overcome the Lady Bears' offense Friday on the road falling to Morgan State University in straight sets (16-25, 23-25, 17-25).
Junior Kamren Harper finished with 10 kills on the day to lead the Eagles' attack while finishing with a hitting percentage of .250. Harper has collected double-digit kills in the last four contests for NCCU.
Junior Gabriela Felix-Baeza pitched in defensively with 12 digs and also had two aces in the loss. Senior Bella Dearinger had a team-high 22 assists for NC Central.
How It Happened
SET 1 | The Eagles found themselves in an early deficit, dropping a tough first set 25-16. NC Central trailed by as many as nine points as Morgan State grabbed the advantage for good in a set that was knotted up two times before the Lady Bears took control.
SET 2 | Despite a strong serving performance, NCCU lost the second set 25-23, digging a 2-0 deficit in the match. The Eagles recorded five aces in the set.
SET 3 | After faltering in the third set, North Carolina Central was swept by Morgan State, dropping a tough set 25-17. NCCU trailed by as many as eight points as MSU grabbed the advantage for good at 15-14. The set was tied up four times before the Lady Bears took over in the second half of the stanza.
