DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team will conclude the non-conference portion of its schedule when the Eagles host North Carolina Wesleyan University inside McDougald-McLendon Arena for a third time in the last four seasons on Tuesday, Jan. 16 at 6 p.m.

The Eagles suffered their first home loss of the season in their last game, falling 81-60 to Norfolk State University on Monday, Jan. 8. NC Central (6-10 Overall) is 4-1 at home this season, including 3-0 against non-conference opponents.
NCCU has a trio of scorers averaging double-digit points on the season in freshman guard
Kyla Bryant (14.4 PPG), senior guard
Kimeira Burks (12.9 PPG) and junior forward
Morgan Callahan (11.9 PPG).
Bryant was the top scorer for the Eagles in NCCU's first two MEAC games last week and she has scored in double figures in 10 consecutive contests. Burks continues to be a 3-point threat with a team-high 37 made treys in 16 starts (2.3 made 3-pointers per game). Callahan, who earned MEAC Defensive Player of the Week for a second time last week, tallied back-to-back double-doubles against Howard and Norfolk State and has four double-doubles on the season while leading the Eagles with 8.8 rebounds per game.
NC Central is 2-0 all-time against NC Wesleyan, including doubling up the Battling Bishops, 82-41, last season. Junior
Aniya Finger, who just played her first game since early November against the Spartans, recorded a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds in NCCU's triumph over NCWU contested on Nov. 22, 2022.
NCWU BENCH
The Battling Bishops have won their last three games, all in league play, and are coming off a 71-59 road win at Greensboro College on Sunday, Jan. 14. NC Wesleyan (7-7) is the preseason favorite to win the NCAA Division III USA South conference.
Senior Areina Harris leads the Battling Bishops with 12.0 points per game, including a team-best 2.4 made 3-pointers per game. Senior Kayrisma Harrison is supplying 11.6 points per game and a team-best 8.6 rebounds per game and she is coming off her third double-double of the season. Senior Nadia Simmons is a third double-digit scorer for NCWU with 10.2 points per game and she tops the squad with 4.0 assists per game.
Harris and Simmons led the Battling Bishops with 11 and 10 points, respectively, in NCWU's loss to NC Central last season.
