NORFOLK, Va. – North Carolina Central University freshman Facundo Olmedo earned Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Rookie of the Week, the league office announced on Wednesday. 

In the Eagles hard fought 4-3 victory over Longwood University Olmedo claimed both a singles and doubles win.

The Miami, Florida native beat Luis Reis 6-3, 6-3 to claim his fifth consecutive victory. In doubles, he teamed up with senior LaQuon Gilchrist to defeat Gary Huang and Alejandro Uribe 6-2.

Up next, NCCU (5-14) will battle Norfolk State at the NSU Tennis Complex on April 8 at 2 p.m.
