NCCU Women’s Tennis Sweeps Coppin State to Advance to Semifinals

CARY, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team defeated Coppin State University 4-0 in the quarterfinals round of the 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Championship inside Cary Tennis Park on Thursday morning. 

MEAC Rookie of the Year and All-MEAC First Team selection Alejandra Hidalgo Vega clipped Megan Etienne 6-2, 6-0.

All-MEAC First Team member Candice Bernier beat Mackenzie Jones 6-0, 6-1.

Sophomore Kennedy Hill and junior Jade Houston's singles competitions against Indy Ampaw and Emperess Johnson went unfinished. 

Up next, NCCU (11-10) will battle the winner of Thursday's quarterfinal match between No. 3 Delaware State and Norfolk State in the semifinal round of the 2023 MEAC Championship on Friday, April 28 at 9 a.m. The action will be streamed via ESPN+.
