CARY, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's tennis team was beaten by Delaware State University 4-0 in the semifinal 2023 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference Tennis Championship inside Cary Tennis Park on Friday morning.
All-MEAC First Team selection and MEAC Rookie of the Year
Alejandra Hidalgo Vega was clipped by Kit Yi Kay Au-Yenug 2-6, 7-5, 2-6. Fellow All-MEAC First Team member
Candice Bernier fell to Daria Julia 1-6, 6-1, 6-7.
Junior
Jade Houston was outlasted by Klaudija Lisovska 2-6, 6-4, 2-6, while sophomore
Kennedy Hill fell to Noelani 6-3, 6-2.
Sophomores
Lafi Joao and
Isabelle Exsted's singles competitions against Baluck Deang and Lucia Corte went unfinished.
NCCU (11-11) finishes the season with the most wins in a season since 2018-19 (8-14), and finish .500 or better for the first time since 2012-13 (14-8).
