DURHAM, N.C. – Thursday afternoon, the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team beat Longwood University 4-1 at the Dr. James W. Younge Tennis Courts.
The Eagles won all four singles matches to clinch the victory.
Freshman
Alejandra Hidalgo Vega clipped Emma Nurgazieva 6-3, 6-1 her fourth consecutive victory, while her classmate
Candice Bernier tripped Karina Rizanova 6-3, 6-4 to earn her second straight victory.
Also claiming a fourth consecutive victory was sophomore
Kennedy Hill who beat Maria Saez 6-2, 6-4, while junior
Jade Houston defeated Sophia Marchetta 6-3, 6-3.
In doubles play, Bernier/Hill was outlasted by Rizanova/Nurgazieva 7-5. Hidalgo Vega paired with sophomore
Isabelle Exsted to defeat Marchetta and Wiktoria Czerny 6-4 to claim the duo's third consecutive victory.
Houston and sophomore
Lafi Joao was beaten by Saez and Nina Hederich 6-4, to claim the Lancers' only point.
