The Eagles secured their second straight road win in their last game before the holiday break, knocking off UNC Wilmington 70-65 on Thursday, Dec. 21. NCCU (5-7 Overall) will be playing its eighth consecutive road game and Sunday's game will conclude the month of December that had the Eagles on the road for all six of their games.
Freshman
Kyla Bryant, who earned her second MEAC Rookie of the Week award earlier in the week, scored a game-high 20 points against the Seahawks to take over the team lead in scoring at 14.2 points per game. Bryant has reached double-digit points in six straight games and ranks second in the MEAC in scoring and third in the conference in steals per game.
Senior
Kimeira Burks has been trading the team scoring lead with Bryant over the first two months of the season and is supplying the Eagles with 13.7 points per game, including an average of 2.5 made 3-pointers per game. She also just trails Bryant with 2.1 steals per game for an aggressive NCCU defense.
Freshman
Jada Tiggett has back-to-back double-doubles in NCCU's road wins at UNC Asheville and UNC Wilmington. Tiggett is the reigning MEAC Defensive Player of the Week, and she leads the league with 1.9 blocks per game while ranking in the top-15 of the conference in scoring, rebounding and steals.
Junior
Morgan Callahan has averaged nearly a double-double on the season (10.4 PPG, 8.8 RPG), but she has missed NCCU's last two games.
NCCU will be playing Furman for the first time since the 2016-17 season and the all-time series is tied at 1-1.
