LIVE STATS
NCCU BENCH
The Eagles return to Durham after losing to Wofford College, 82-52, on Tuesday. NC Central (0-2) went 9-5 at home last season.
Freshman
Kyla Bryant (13.0 PPG), senior
Kimeira Burks (8.5 PPG) and junior
Janiah Jones (7.0 PPG) have all registered a double-digit scoring performance in once of NCCU's first two games this season. Junior
Morgan Callahan (7.0 RPG) has been the top rebounder for the Eagles in each of those two contests.
NCCU has used the same starting lineup in each of its first two games and those five players are all averaging big minutes early this season as the Eagles look to get more healthy bodies on the court.
NC Central will be playing MACU for the first time in program history. The Eagles last played JWU in 2021 and NCCU won that contest 101-34, but they have a completely different roster since improving to 4-0 all-time against the Wildcats.
MACU BENCH
The Mustangs will be making their 2023-24 season debut at NCCU. Mid-Atlantic Christian is under the direction of a new coach after going 7-9 last season.
Senior Kayla Kent has averaged around 10 points and six rebounds per game over her first three seasons with the Mustangs.
JWU BENCH
The Wildcats, who play out of the Charlotte JWU campus, are coming off a 101-51 exhibition loss to Queens University of Charlotte. Johnson & Wales (2-1) will be playing Sunday's game as an exhibition as well, but the contest will count as a regular-season game for the Eagles.
JWU has had the same starting lineup in each of its first three regular season contests and all five players are averaging between 8 to 11 points per game. Freshman McKenzie Taylor leads the group with 11.3 points per game, including an average of three made 3-pointers per contest, and a team-high 2.0 steals per game.
