Alejandra Hidalgo Vega won singles matches in the Eagles' 5-2 loss to UNCW on Saturday evening.
Houston outlasted Stela Joksimovic 6-4, 6-3, 6-4 to earn the 15th singles victory of her career. Hidalgo Vega defeated Anna Daniels 6-2, 7-5 to collect her third straight singles win of the season.
Sophomores
Kennedy Hill and
Lafi Joao were clipped by Zoe Huffman and Gabbie Glickstein 6-4, 6-1, and 6-2, 6-2, respectively.
Freshman
Candice Bernier battled, but fell to Eda Arli 6-1, 6-4, 6-4, while junior
Maria Picazo Martin was beaten by Lauren Gish 6-1, 6-0.
In doubles, Hidalgo Vega and Bernier teamed up and were dropped 6-1 by Arli and Gish. Hill and Picazo Martin fell to Daniels and Huffman (6-4), while Houston and Joao gave Joksimovic and Lauren Robbins a fight but were outlasted 7-5.
NCCU (1-3) returns to action against nationally ranked Duke on Sunday, Feb. 5 inside Sheffield Indoor Tennis Center at 6:30 p.m.
