BALTIMORE, Md. – North Carolina Central University freshman
Tori Wilson amassed a season-high 20 points on 13 kills, four service aces, and four total blocks (2 solo, 2 assist) to lead NCCU to a dramatic 3-2 (25-14, 17-25, 25-18, 16-25, 15-10) road victory at Morgan State University to begin MEAC play on Friday.
Wilson's 13 kills topped the Eagles, followed by
Kamren Harper with nine kills and
Autumn DeSantis with eight. Setter
Vanila Pulu-Suliafu distributed 33 assists with 15 digs and six kills, while
Daryn Armstrong patrolled the net for six total blocks (3 solo, 3 assist) for NCCU (2-9, 1-0 MEAC).
The conference foes split each set with NCCU saving its best for last. The Eagles recorded a match-high hitting percentage of 41.7% in the fifth and deciding set, compared to 11.8% by the Bears in the finale.
Jourdan Page topped Morgan State (1-14, 0-1 MEAC) with 14 kills, while Alyssa Sampson posted a match-high 20 digs.
