BALTIMORE, Md. – Freshman
Anisa Reynolds hit her first collegiate home run to highlight play for the North Carolina Central University softball team in a couple of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) losses to host Morgan State University on Saturday.
The Eagles were dealt a 9-1 loss in the opening game of the doubleheader and then fell 2-1 in a walk-off victory for the Bears in the nightcap.
NC Central (11-33 Overall, 8-12 MEAC) and Morgan State (28-13, 17-3) will conclude the three-game series on Sunday with that start of that contest moved up to a 9:30 a.m. first pitch with expected inclement weather that afternoon.
GAME ONE: Morgan State 9, NC Central 1 (6 Inn.)
The home run by Reynolds provided NCCU with an initial 1-nil advantage before the Bears scored nine unanswered runs to rally for the triumph. Morgan State outhit the Eagles, 12-3, on the strength of the pitching of sophomore Anaya Hunt.
Reynolds launched her homer to left-center in just her seventh game in NCCU's batting lineup.
Junior designated player Melissa Paz led the victors with five RBI. Sophomore second baseman Mia Ewell accounted for a game-high three hits.
Hunt improved to 13-3 on the season with her 12-strikeout complete game.

Maegan Garrison accounted for the other two maroon and gray hits.
GAME TWO: Morgan State 2, NC Central 1
The Eagles outhit MSU by a 5-3 margin, but 10 walks helped the Bears complete the sweep of Saturday's twin bill. A hit-by-pitch and a walk helped in the hosts load the bases in the bottom of the seventh before an infield single by Paz provided Morgan State with the walk-off win.
Just like the first game, Reynolds drove in NCCU's lone run in the second inning to provide the Eagles with the initial advantage. This time Reynolds drove in the run with an infield single.
Freshman pitcher
Ashanti Eubanks kept Morgan State off the scoreboard until the sixth inning. The game-tying run by the Bears was an unearned run. Eubanks suffered the loss despite scattering just three hits and allowing just one earned run.
Sophomore
Jaylah Barr had NCCU's extra-base hit with a double.
NCCU's five hits came off the bats of five different Eagles.
