NORFOLK, Va. – The North Carolina Central University freshman duo of outside hitter
Kamren Harper and middle hitter
Tori Wilson were both named to the 2022 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference All-Rookie Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday, Nov. 15.
Harper and Wilson are two of the top offensive threats in the conference as they become the fourth and fifth NCCU newcomers to be voted MEAC All-Rookie Team under the direction of seventh-year head coach
Jody Brown.
Harper and Wilson are ranked fifth and seventh, respectively, in the league in scoring as they both average just over three points per set. Harper is sixth in the league with 2.65 kills per set after reaching double-digit kills in nine matches. Wilson has reached that 10-plus kill plateau eight times and she ranks 11th in the conference with 2.34 kills per set heading into postseason play.
Harper, who hails from Simpsonville, South Carolina, has four double-doubles on the season as she also ranks third on the team with 2.13 digs per set. Harper has one MEAC Player of the Week and one MEAC Rookie of the Week honors to her name this season.
Wilson is from Allen, Texas, and she leads the Eagles with a .233 hitting percentage and 57 blocks on the season (0.64 blocks/set). Wilson garnered MEAC Rookie of the Week attention one time this season.
They both has served up 26 aces in 25 regular-season matches for averages of 0.29 aces per set, which is tied for second most on the team.
NC Central will open up play in the 2022 MEAC Volleyball Championship in the quarterfinals against host Delaware State University on Friday, Nov. 18 at 8:30 p.m.
