DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior guard
Necole Hope has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for December 2021 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
Hope scored double-digit points in all three of NCCU's games in December, including a 15-point performance in a dominating win against Johnson & Wales University on Dec. 20.
For the month, Hope averaged 14.0 points, 4.0 rebounds and 1.7 steals per game while shooting 42.4-percent from the field and 81.3-percent from the free throw line.
Hope was a Preseason All-MEAC Third Team selection as she entered the season as NCCU's leading returning scorer from 2020-21.
After the first two months of play, Hope led NCCU with an average of 12.4 points per game.
Hope graduated from NC Central with a 3.568 cumulative grade point average (GPA) as a behavioral and social science major with a minor in family and consumer science. Hope is currently pursuing a graduate degree at NCCU in family and consumer science with a concentration in human development and family studies. She has aspirations to play professionally overseas and then to start a career in the family and consumer science field.
Hope, who hails from Waldorf, Maryland, was named to the MEAC Commissioner's All-Academic Team last year and was an AAC All-Academic Team honoree in her time playing at East Carolina University. She was recognized twice as a Minds in Motion scholar-athlete by the Maryland Public Schools Athletic Association.
As a volunteer, Hope has spent time with Ronald McDonald House, Elmhurst Elementary, Autism Awareness Day, ECBL Flag Football, SAAC Christmas Children's Hospital, Homeless Shelter, Breast Cancer Walk, Special Olympics, Food Bank and Relay for Life Gala.
