DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University senior guard
Faith Williams has been named the NCCU Student-Athlete of the Month for February 2021 in recognition of her outstanding accomplishments on the court and in the classroom.
Williams moved into the starting lineup for the Eagles in mid-February and contributed over 32 minutes per game in the final seven games of the season. In those seven starts, Williams averaged 9.0 points, 3.1 rebounds, 2.3 assists and 2.0 steals per game.
The resident of Akron, Ohio, scored a career-high 17 points in a road game at Georgia Southern University. She made four 3-pointers in a pair of games late in the season, including that contest.
Williams, who is expecting to graduate early in December of 2021, only played in 45 games for the Eagles after being a medical red shirt as a freshman and then competing in shortened seasons the past two years due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The Debra Saunders-White Leadership Award recipient maintains a 3.3 grade point average (GPA) through her first five semesters at NCCU. Williams is a kinesiology major with a concentration in sports management. She has been named to the MEAC Commissioner's Honor Roll and plans to attend graduate school to get a master's in athletic training after she completes an athletic training internship at University of Akron.
