DURHAM, N.C. — The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team will go on the road and try and pick up a few wins against the leader of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division when the Eagles face rival North Carolina A&T State University on Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 27-28 with tipoff inside the Corbett Sports Center set for 2 p.m. both days.

NC CENTRAL BENCH:
The Eagles have lost their last four games, including their first two games against N.C. A&T two weeks ago followed by a pair of non-conference games at Georgia Southern University last week. NC Central (3-8 Overall, 1-3 MEAC) is in third place in the Southern Division and is one game behind second-place Norfolk State University in the win column.
Sophomore forward
Anissa Rivera earned her sixth MEAC weekly award last week. Rivera has earned two MEAC Player of the Week awards and four MEAC Defensive Player of the Week honors in the seven weeks NCCU has played this season.
Rivera has scored in double digits in all 11 games this season. Her 16.5 points per game leads the MEAC and she also tops the league and ranks eighth nationally with 3.09 blocks per game. Rivera's 9.2 rebounds per game is third in the conference.
Redshirt sophomore
Faith Williams was also mentioned amongst the 'Other Top Performers' for the week by the MEAC after she averaged 13.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 3.0 steals per game against the Georgia Southern Eagles. Williams scored a career-high 17 points, including four made 3-pointers, on Saturday before tallying 10 points, five assists and four steals in 39 minutes played Sunday.
Senior
Necole Hope is second on the team with 10.4 points per game. Junior
Kiyana Brown is averaging 6.9 points, 6.4 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.
The Eagles only had seven players in their last game due to a bunch of injuries.
N.C. A&T BENCH:
The Aggies had a 10-game win streak come to an end in their last game at Norfolk State on Sunday, Feb. 21. N.C. A&T (10-2 Overall, 7-1 MEAC) still have command of the Southern Division with three wins against the Spartans and two wins against the Eagles.
Senior forward Deja Winters, a Preseason All-MEAC Second Team selection, is providing the Aggies with 13.4 points per game and her 2.8 made 3-pointers per game tops the league.
Senior Chanin Scott, who played her first three seasons at Georgia Tech, is averaging nearly a double-double with team-best averages of 13.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per game.
SERIES:
After being swept the by Eagles in all three games last season, the Aggies were able to pick-up a pair of wins at NCCU on Feb. 13-14 by scores of 87-57 and 72-62. Winters netted 26 points in the first win on the strength of six made 3-pointers and Scott averaged 17.5 points and 8.5 rebounds per game in the two triumphs. For the Eagles, Rivera led all players with averages of 20.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks in the two showdowns. N.C. A&T holds a 41-11 all-time series advantage.
