NORFOLK, Va. — Former North Carolina Central University outside hitter Christine Anthony has been announced as a member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball All-Time Team, Presented by The Home Depot, comprised of 50 outstanding student-athletes throughout the conference's history.
Anthony played one season with the Eagles just after NCCU returned to the MEAC as full NCAA Division I members in 2011-12.
After being named the 2012 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Rookie of the Year and a first team All-MEAC member, Anthony ended her rookie season leading the Eagles with 375 kills on 1014 attempts, averaging 3.68 kills per game. She finished second on the team with 33 services aces, top-five with 37 blocks, led the team with 247 digs and earned 12 assists.
The Willemstad, Curacao, native collected a team-high 10 double-doubles in kills/digs, posted a season-high 23 kills on Oct. 5, 2012 against Florida A&M University and a season-high 15 digs on Sept. 28, 2012 versus North Carolina A&T State University.
Nearly 900 votes were cast for the Volleyball All-Time Team, with fans, media representatives, institution sports information contacts and others taking part.
To be considered on the ballot, players must have been named to one of the following: First Team All-MEAC, MEAC Player of the Year, AVCA All-America or All-Region or a MEAC Hall of Fame inductee.
