RADFORD, Va. — Freshman
Ivana Dragovic picked up her team-high eighth singles win to highlight play for visiting North Carolina Central University in a 5-1 non-conference road dual loss at Radford University Saturday.
The two teams decided to just play singles after battling numerous weather delays.
Dragovic notched her win at the sixth position in the Lady Eagles lineup. She won in straight set scores of 6-3 and 7-6 over fellow rookie Katey Fruehauf.
The Highlanders swept the other five showdowns in straight sets to win their fourth straight match and improve to 12-8 on the season.
In a couple of closer matches, sophomore No. 4 Tyler Blalock held off junior
Sofia Miller (6-4, 7-6) and sophomore No. 5 Jeanine Acierto nipped sophomore
Polina Sakharova (7-5, 6-2).
NC Central (7-12) will conclude its regular season at Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division rival South Carolina State University on Wednesday.
