DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University exploded for five runs in the second inning and cruised to a rain-shortened 9-0 victory over Canisius College on Sunday in the Durham Athletic Park.

Trey Maslin collected two hits, including a three-run double in the second frame, to finish with four RBI, while freshman center fielder
Nick Fajardo added a pair of hits with a walk and two runs scored for the Eagles.

Ryan Miller threw five scoreless innings, striking out 11 of the 17 batters he faced and allowing just two hits to pick up an impressive victory in his first college outing.
Canisuis (1-2) shortstop Conner Morro had one of the team's two hits on Sunday, finishing the three-game weekend series batting 5-for-10.
The contest was called after 5.1 innings due to rain.
NCCU (2-1) returns home on Tuesday, Feb. 19 at 4 p.m. versus Norfolk State University at Durham Athletic Park. Admission is free.
