DURHAM, N.C. — Junior
Christine Alcox and sophomore
Jasmine Sanders both smashed 13 kills for host North Carolina Central University in a 3-1 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) setback to North Carolina A&T State University Friday night.
The Aggies clinched the MEAC Southern Division title with the 27-25, 25-15, 17-25, 25-17 victory. N.C. A&T holds a 12-13 overall record and 10-1 mark in league play.
NC Central (6-22, 5-6) next plays its last regular season road match at MEAC rival South Carolina State University on Sunday, Nov. 10 at 1 p.m.
NC CENTRAL HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Alcox posted a .265 hitting percentage on her way to 13 kills. Sanders reached double-digit kills for the first time in 14 matches by matching Alcox with 13 kills. Alcox also tallied three block assists for a team-best 14.5 points.
Sophomore setter
Celene Morris just missed another double-double with a match-high 40 assists and eight digs. Junior libero paced NCCU with 11 digs. Sophomore
Isis Mitchell chipped in 10 digs, three aces and three kills.

Sophomore Fatimah Shabazz logged a match-high 15 kills.
SET-BY-SET:
1ST SET: A kill by Alcox gave NCCU a chance to serve for set point at 24-23, but the Lady Eagles committed their seventh service error of the set to tie the score. A couple more hitting errors by the hosts then provided the Aggies with the extended two-point set victory.
2ND SET: N.C. A&T hit .310 in the set to win by 10. Trailing 8-7, the Aggies used an 11-1 to pull away.
3RD SET: Sophomore
Ammaarah Williams tallied four of her eight kills in the set and the Lady Eagles hit .405 to extend the match. NCCU had the Aggies doubled up, 12-6, after a Williams kill and eventually extended the lead to as many as 10 points a few times before settling for the seven-point win.
4TH SET: The Aggies ended the match by jumping out early. N.C. A&T scored the first four points in the coast-to-coast win and Shabazz had six kills in the clinching seven-point triumph.
