DURHAM, N.C. — Sophomore middle blocker
Ammaarah Williams hit .615 with eight kills and three aces to pace the North Carolina Central University volleyball team to a 3-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division road win at South Carolina State University Sunday afternoon.
The Lady Eagles posted a .318 hitting percentage for the match in completing the 25-12, 25-20, 25-23 sweep. NCCU improved to 7-22 on the season and 6-6 in the league.
NC Central returns home for its final two MEAC home matches, starting with Senior Night on Friday. The Lady Eagles will honor seniors
Kennedy White and
Jessica Pilivi before the match slated for a 6 p.m. first serve.
NC CENTRAL HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Williams only needed 13 attempts to record her eight kills. She did not have an error to finish with her .615 hitting percentage. She also added three aces and block assist to finish with 11.5 points.
Fellow middle blocker
McKayla Young matched Williams with 11.5 points. Young and junior
Christine Alcox shared team-high kill honors with nine kills apiece. Young also had four blocks (one solo, three assists).
The Lady Eagles had a balanced attack with sophomore
Jasmine Sanders adding eight kills as four NCCU players finished with either eight or nine spikes.
Sophomore setter
Celene Morris sparked the hot-hitting maroon and gray attack with 32 assists on 38 kills. Sophomore
Isis Mitchell led NCCU with nine digs.
SOUTH CAROLINA STATE HIGHLIGHTS & STATS:
Junior Alexis Holt tallied a match-high 13 kills.
The Lady Bulldogs remained winless on the season.
