DURHAM, N.C. — A Thanksgiving road trip to California, a Triangle trek to UNC, a battle at an Elite Eight program and a holiday visit to New York City to go along with six home games highlight an exciting non-conference schedule in preparation of Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play as the North Carolina Central University women's basketball team announced its 2019-20 schedule.

Third-year head coach Trisha Stafford-Odom will be guiding the Lady Eagles through a demanding 29-game schedule, battling 13 different non-conference opponents over the first two months.

NCCU will begin its season at home against Winthrop University on Tuesday, Nov. 12. The Lady Eagles will host a total of six non-conference opponents, including Campbell University (Nov. 19), High Point University (Nov. 24), Florida International University (Dec. 6), Washington Adventist University (Dec. 17) and Lincoln (Pa.) University (Dec. 21).

The maroon and gray will play its seven non-conference road games in five different states, beginning with visit to Charleston, South Carolina, against College of Charleston on Friday, Nov. 15.

NC Central will then fly to California over Thanksgiving for three games. The Lady Eagles will first play two games in the Cal Classic hosted by the University of California, Berkeley, on Friday-Saturday, Nov. 29-30. They will first play the host Golden Bears on Black Friday, which that result will determine if they play Long Beach State University of Penn State University for either the championship or third place Saturday.

The Lady Eagles will then travel down the Pacific coast for a contest against CSU Bakersfield on Monday, Dec. 2 to conclude their trip in the Golden State.

NCCU's lone non-conference road game in its home state will be a quick trip to Chapel Hill to battle the University of North Carolina on Sunday, Dec. 8. The Lady Eagles will then visit the University of Iowa for a second straight season on Saturday, Dec. 14 in a matchup against a Hawkeyes program that went to the Elite Eight in 2019. NCCU's last non-conference road trip will be a chance for senior Paulina Afriyie, who is from the Bronx, to play a collegiate game in New York City for the only time as the Lady Eagles take on Long Island University in Brooklyn on Saturday, Dec. 28.

After the calendar flips to the New Year, the Lady Eagles will once again play 16 consecutive league tilts that will be part of doubleheaders with the NCCU men's program.

The journey through conference competition will feature home and away clashes with Delaware State University, Florida A&M University, Bethune-Cookman University, University of Maryland Eastern Shore, South Carolina State University and rival North Carolina A&T State University. The Lady Eagles will also host Norfolk State University and Howard University. NCCU will only see Coppin State University and Morgan State University in Baltimore, Maryland.

Important dates for Eagle fans include NCCU's two battles against the Aggies of N.C. A&T in Greensboro on Saturday, Feb. 15 and at home in its regular season finale inside McDougald-McLendon Arena on Thursday, March 5.

The 2020 MEAC Basketball Championships will once again be held at the Norfolk Scope Arena in Norfolk, Virginia, from Tuesday-Saturday, March 10-14.
