NORFOLK, Va. — North Carolina Central University freshman outside hitter
Arlanda Faulkner averaged over three kills per set in a pair of matches at the Charm City Classic over the weekend on her way to being named Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Volleyball Rookie of the Week on Monday.
Faulkner reached double-digit kills in matches against MEAC Northern Division foes Coppin State University and Delaware State University. She ripped a season-high 15 kills in a close five-set against the host CSU Eagles. She followed it up with 10 spikes in a straight-set win over the DSU Hornets.
The Goldsboro, North Carolina, product finished the week averaging 3.12 kills per set over the nine sets played in Baltimore. Faulkner also chipped in five digs and five blocks on the week for an average of 3.62 points per set.
Faulkner posted a .215 hitting percentage after recording her 25 kills on 65 attempts with 11 errors.
Ten games into the season, Faulkner leads the Lady Eagles with an average of 1.97 kills per set.
NCCU next plays at East Carolina University on Tuesday at 4 p.m.
