BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — Senior
Jamie Rogers rallied for a three-set win to earn the only point for the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team in a 6-1 road loss at Gardner-Webb University on Saturday.
The Runnin' Bulldogs only lost four games out of the other 64 games contested from No. 2-6 in the singles lineup to prevail. Gardner-Webb improved to 3-11 on the season.
Rogers dropped her first set to junior Sandra Bolstad before fighting back for the 6-7, 6-2, 10-5 triumph from the marquee position in the Lady Eagles order. The Cary, North Carolina, product has a team-high three singles wins on the season.
GWU started the afternoon by sweeping doubles. In the tightest match, Bolstad and sophomore Miljana Ristic outlasted Rogers and freshman
Polina Sakharova by a narrow 7-5 margin.
NCCU (0-14) next visits Campbell University in Buies Creek, North Carolina, on Tuesday at 2 p.m.
