DURHAM, N.C. — The doubles pair of senior Jamie Rogers and freshman Polina Sakharova won their third straight match to claim the lone win for the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team in a 7-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) Southern Division loss to visiting North Carolina A&T State University Wednesday afternoon.

Rogers and Sakharova leveled their doubles record to 4-4 by winning atop NCCU's lineup. They knocked off senior Khalia Powell and junior Fabiana Ramirez by a 6-3 margin to level doubles play at 1-all.

The Aggies claimed the first doubles match with a 6-2 win by junior Angelica Martinez and sophomore Kanishka before North Carolina A&T securing the first team point on the middle court.

NCCU sophomore Sofia Miller and freshman Maru Berghaus forced a tiebreaker in the decisive doubles match, but senior Nadia Hilton-Adams and sophomore Renata Ruiz Rabadan took the race to seven points, 7-3, to sneak out the 7-6 win.

NCAT (1-15 Overall, 1-3 MEAC) sealed its first win of the season with straight-set victories in the upper half of its singles lineup. Ramirez (6-3, 6-2), Martinez (6-4, 6-2) and Powell (6-0, 6-1) notched the wins from positions 1-3, respectively.
