Lady Eagles Swept in Road Match at ECU

GREENVILLE, N.C. — The East Carolina University women's tennis team won 90 of 97 games played in completing a 7-0 victory over visiting North Carolina Central University on Thursday afternoon at the River Birch Tennis Center.
 
Sophomore transfer Sofia Miller had three of the Eagles seven game won at No. 4 singles. Senior Jamie Rogers battled a nationally ranked opponent in No. 52 junior Celia Ruiz atop the lineup.
 
NCCU's lineup consisted of (from 1-6) Rogers, freshman Maru Berghaus, freshman Polina Sakharova, Miller, sophomore Emily Pena and senior Lauren Mullis.
 
The Pirates leveled their record to 1-1 while the Lady Eagles slipped to 0-2.
 
NCCU will host Western Carolina University in its home opener on Saturday at 1 p.m.
