2017 ECU Invitational Results
GREENVILLE, N.C. – Senior
Jamie Rogers and freshman
Polina Sakharova both collected victories for the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team at the East Carolina University Invitational that was contested at the River Birch Tennis Complex on Friday-Saturday, Sept. 22-23.
The ECU Invite featured eight flights with each flight containing four players that played three round-robin matches to determine a flight winner. The trio of Lady Eagles competed in flights with players from East Carolina, Campbell University and West Virginia State University.
Rogers and Sakharova both got in the win column against opposition from the WVSU Yellow Jackets. Rogers tallied a 7-6 (3), 6-3 triumph and Sakharova supplied a 6-1, 6-1 conquest. The both lost to the Pirates and Camels in straight sets.
Freshman
Maru Berghaus also took the court in a couple matches, losing to West Virginia State and Campbell. She was credited with a default win against ECU.
The Lady Eagles will conclude the fall portion of their schedule by hosting the third annual NCCU Invitational on Thursday-Friday, Oct. 19-20.
