The Lady Eagles swept host Savannah State University last weekend. NCCU (8-22 Overall) leveled its league record to 3-3 with its first MEAC sweep since joining the league in 2011-12.
Senior pitcher
Dominique Wilson (7-11) went 3-0 in three starts against the Lady Tigers and only allowed one earned run over 18 innings of work. Wilson's seven wins are tied for second most in the league and her 3.76 ERA put her in the top-10.
NCCU entered last weekend with just three home runs in 27 games, but the Lady Eagles exploded for eight home runs over the next three games. Wilson and freshman third baseman
Ava Dolan (.221) both went deep twice. Wilson paced the maroon and gray with four homers and 14 RBI.
Junior
Lauren Sitterson, who leads NCCU with a .333 average, joined senior
Jennifer Allison (.254), sophomore
Aleyah Evans (.205) and senior
Kim Mobley (.205) in hitting their first homers of the season last weekend. Evans has stolen six bases and Mobley has scored 10 times.
Sitterson (1-6, 6.54 ERA) and Allison (0-5, 9.15 ERA) also may pitch for the Lady Eagles.
NCCU was swept by Bethune-Cookman in Daytona Beach, Florida, last season and are winless against the Wildcats since joining the league (0-14).
Bethune-Cookman Softball
The Wildcats last hosted North Carolina A&T State University and went 1-2. Bethune-Cookman (14-25 Overall, 4-2 MEAC) sits in second place in the MEAC Southern Division standings, one game ahead of the Lady Eagles.
Senior Sabrina Anguiano was the MEAC Pitcher of the Year in 2015 and earned all-conference distinction last year. Anguiano (7-7, 4.74 ERA) leads the Wildcats in wins, innings pitched (75.1) and strikeouts (39). The freshmen duo of Mariah Estrada (3-5, 4.57) and Destiny Enriquez (1-12, 7.17) have also seen a lot of action in the pitcher's circle.

Rookie outfielder Ryan Jackson leads the league with whopping numbers of .460 average, 34 RBI, and nine home runs while adding 29 runs scored and 15 stolen bases. Junior Mariah Davis (.381, 35 runs), who was all-league two years ago, tops the MEAC with 35 runs scored and 48 total hits. Senior Kaitlin Alamprese (.316, 22 RBI, 20 R) and junior Iesah Waters (.299, 18 RBI, 24 R) have also been major contributors to the Wildcats offense this season. Davis and Waters also have 13 thefts apiece on the base paths.
