FARMVILLE, Va. – Senior Lynsey Cover and junior Jamie Rogers teamed up for the only North Carolina Central University win in a 4-0 dual-match loss to host Longwood University on Saturday afternoon.
 
The Lancers won the other two doubles matches and then rolled to straight-set wins in the bottom half of their singles lineup to complete the team triumph.
 
Longwood improved to 4-12, with three of its four wins coming against teams from the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC).
 
Cover and Rogers won in the top doubles match by a 6-1 margin. The duo remained undefeated together at 3-0.
 
Senior No. 4 Paloma Alatorre (6-0, 6-0), senior No. 5 Mason Thomas (6-0, 6-0) and sophomore No. 6 Fallon Burger (6-2, 6-0) picked up the Lancers singles wins as they combined to only lose two of 38 total games.
 
Rogers narrowly lost her first set while Cover and sophomore Jasmine Gabriel were in level 6-6 first sets when play was stopped after Longwood clinched the team victory.
 
NCCU (2-14) returns home for two MEAC Southern Division showdowns. The Lady Eagles will first entertain Florida A&M University on Friday at Noon while Saturday's showdown at 10 a.m. against Bethune-Cookman University will serve as Senior Day for Cover and classmate Tamara Jeremic. The Senior Day presentation will occur before the match so fans are encouraged to arrive no later than 9:45 a.m.
