DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University softball will play its first home games of the season when the Lady Eagles entertain fellow Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference foe Hampton University in a doubleheader at Thomas Brooks Park in Cary on Monday beginning at 1 p.m.

The Lady Eagles played 13 games in the month of February and they were all on the road away from The Triangle. NCCU (1-12 Overall) is debuting Thomas Brooks Park as its new home facility for 2017. The Lady Eagles, who compete in the MEAC Southern Division, are 1-1 against MEAC Northern Division foes this season, splitting a pair of games against University of Maryland Eastern Shore.

Dominique Wilson are the only two NCCU players batting over .300 this season. Duen paces the maroon and gray with a .387 average, collecting 12 hits in 13 games. Wilson has a .300 average and a team-high six RBI. Senior pitcher

NCCU will be playing Hampton for the first time since the 2012 season. The Pirates swept that doubleheader in Hampton, Virginia.
Hampton Softball
The Pirates are 2-10 with their two wins this season wins coming against College of the Holy Cross and Miami (Ohio) University. Half of Hampton's 10 losses have been by just one or two runs.
Junior first baseman Jada Fields is the reigning MEAC Player of the Week and she is sporting a .364 average with three doubles, two home runs and five RBI. Freshman (.351) outfielder Cassidy Blackwell leads the Pirates with 13 hits.
Hampton is batting .260 as a team with seven regular players boasting averages over .290.
Junior Allyson Babinsack has pitched 2/3 of HU's innings this season. Babinsack has already hurled 49.1 innings, having appeared in all but one game. She has a 1-7 record with a 5.39 ERA and 25 strikeouts.
