GAME NOTES #8: NCCU at Iowa State (will be posted late Friday after the CCU game)
DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team will go from playing at the beach to playing in the Midwest in arenas about 1,000 miles apart in less than a 48-hour span when the Eagles play at Coastal Carolina University on Friday at 6 p.m. and Iowa State University on Sunday at 1 p.m. (Noon CST).
Live audio, video and stat options will be available for both contests.

N.C. Central Women's Basketball
The Eagles started a six-game road swing with an 89-63 loss at UNCW on Sunday. NCCU (2-4 Overall) is winless on the road (0-3) and will be playing six games in 14 days beginning with its contest at Coastal Carolina.
Junior guard
Rodneysha Martin scored a game-high 20 points against the Seahawks to increase her team-high scoring average to 15 points per game. Martin has scored in double digits in five of the NCCU's six games. The Olive Branch, Mississippi, product also averages 2.2 assists and 4.2 rebounds per game.
Junior guard
Jayla Calhoun leads the maroon and gray with 4.4 rebounds per game and is second on the team in scoring with 10.2 points per game. Four other Eagles in junior

Dominique Adams (3.2) have all had double-digit scoring games for NCCU this season.
Positively, NCCU is shooting over 70-percent from the free throw line and is coming off its cleanest game in regards to fewest turnovers. However, the Eagles continue to commit at least 20 fouls per game and are shooting just 33.3-percent from the floor.
NCCU dropped a 66-50 road contest at Coastal Carolina last season. Adams played all 40 minutes and scored nine points while senior
Kierona Morton pulled down eight rebounds.
The Eagles will be playing Iowa State for the first time in program history.
Coastal Carolina Women's Basketball
The Chanticleers are coming off a 67-58 overtime victory over IUPU Fort Wayne on Monday. Coastal Carolina (4-4 Overall) – picked 11th in the Sun Belt Conference preseason poll – will be playing its eighth home game on Friday (4-3).
Senior guard Jas Adams has moved into a starter role in her final season and has been delivering 19.0 points, 5.8 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.8 steals per game. She is coming off a career-high, 29-point performance against the Mastodons.
Sophomore DJ Williams compliments Adams with 15.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game. Williams has scored in double digits in seven of CCU's eight games, including a career-high 27 against the College of Charleston last week.
The Chants rank in the top-25 of 345 NCAA DI programs with a +10.9 rebounding margin. Freshman Alise Davis and sophomore center Naheria Hamilton lead the rebounders with 7.7 and 7.6 rebounds per game. Hamilton is chipping in 7.5 points and 2.5 blocks per game.
Coastal Carolina remained undefeated against NCCU at 4-0 all-time with its 16-point win on Nov. 15, 2016. Adams scored 12 points while Hamilton notched a double-double of 10 points and 11 rebounds.
Iowa State Women's Basketball
The Cyclones are coming off a narrow 61-55 home loss to Iowa on Wednesday. Iowa State (3-5 Overall) finished fifth in the Big 12 last year and earned its 10th appearance in the NCAA Tournament in the last 11 years, but has lost four straight games.
Junior guard Bridget Carleton is a reigning All-Big 12 First Team honoree, who is boasting season averages of 19.6 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.9 assists, 2.1 steals and 1.4 blocks per game. She has been awarded two Big 12 Player of the Week accolades in the first four weeks of the season. Carleton is shooting 82.7% from the free throw line, which is below her career average as she finished last season as the second best free throw shooter in DI at 93.9%.
ISU is making an average of 12 three-pointers per game. Senior Emily Durr (10.7 ppg) and junior Adriana Camber (7.9 ppg) join Carleton in each swishing an average of over two 3-pointers per game.
Freshman Madison Wise, who is the reigning Big 12 Freshman of the Week, and junior Bride Kennedy-Hopoate chip in 6.9 points per game while freshman center is pulling down a team-best 7.6 boards per game.
