GAME NOTES #13: NCCU at USC Upstate
DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team will play its final non-conference game of the season in Spartanburg, South Carolina, against USC Upstate on Saturday at 4:30 p.m.

N.C. Central Women's Basketball
The Eagles have lost seven straight games after last dropping a 58-51 home battle with Campbell University on Dec. 21. NCCU (2-10 Overall) is 0-8 on the road.
Junior guard
Rodneysha Martin continues to lead the team with 13.6 points, 2.3 assists and 1.6 steals per game. She is the top free throw shooter in the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) at 84.4%.
Sophomore forward
Paulina Afriyie has posted three consecutive games, including career-high totals of 16 points and 15 rebounds against the Camels. Afriyie tops the Eagles with 6.3 rebounds and 0.9 blocks per game.
Afriyie is one of three NCCU players scoring just over six points per game, joining juniors
Jayla Calhoun and
Sami Oliver-Alexander.
NCCU hosted USC Upstate last season and lost 68-58 in Durham. Junior
Dominique Adams scored 10 points and classmate
Deja McCain grabbed nine rebounds.
USC Upstate Women's Basketball
The Spartans entered the holiday break with a 108-71 loss at Oklahoma State University on Dec. 19. USC Upstate (3-10 Overall) is 3-4 at home.
Junior guard Tamera Thorpe has played in every game for the Spartans since joining the program three years ago and she leads the squad with 11.2 points.
Freshman Anda Kuzmina (9.5 ppg), sophomore Rylie Parkhurst (8.2 ppg) and sophomore Morgan Williams (8.2) contribute to USCU's balanced scoring. Parkhurst is the top three-point threat with over two made treys per game while Williams leads with 4.7 rebounds per game.
Senior guard Brittney Delva is contributing 4.2 assists and 1.5 steals per game.
Sophomore center Riley Popplewell posted a double-double of 12 points and 12 rebounds in last season's 10-point win at NCCU. Junior DeNisha Swain led all players with 16 points.
