MARTIN, Tenn. – North Carolina Central University suffered from a cool-shooting night as the Eagles fell 74-57 at Tennessee-Martin to finish the three-game road trip on Wednesday, Nov. 15 at the Elam Center.
NCCU (0-3) starts the season with three losses for the first time since the 2008-09 campaign.
UT-Martin (1-2) was able to create separation in the first half and hold on to it for the rest of the game as the Skyhawks closed the period on a 12-3 run to lead 42-24 at the break.
Raasean Davis (Chicago, Ill.) once again led the Eagles with a joint game-high 16 points and a team-high seven rebounds, and he was followed by Pablo Rivas (Colón, Panama) in double-figures with 11 points and five boards.
C.J. Wiggins (Richmond, Va.) stepped in for his first start of the year and dished out a career-high eight assists to lead all players in the contest.
UT-Martin had three players with double-digit point totals, and Fatodd Lewis (Memphis, Tenn.) had a double-double with 15 points and 11 rebounds. Matthew Butler (Memphis, Tenn.) had 16 points and five assists for the Skyhawks and Parrish Hewitt (Memphis, Tenn.) collected 13 points and six boards.
NCCU now returns to the Bull City to start the home schedule against Warren Wilson on Friday, Nov. 17 at McDougald-McLendon Arena.
