DURHAM, N.C. – North Carolina Central University put itself into the win column for the first time of the 2017-18 season to the tune of a 101-76 victory over Warren Wilson at McDougald-McLendon Arena on Friday, Nov. 17.
NCCU (1-3) crashed the glass as a unit and pulled down a staggering 66 rebounds, the most recorded dating back through the 2001-02 season.
The Eagles were running early, and pulled out to a 23-9 lead over Warren Wilson (3-2) by the 12:46 mark in the first half and held a commanding lead for the remainder of the contest.
Raasean Davis (Chicago, Ill.) was again a standout for the Eagles as he almost recorded a double-double in the first half alone with 17 points and nine rebounds. He finished the contest with 19 points and 12 rebounds, and he along with teammate
Pablo Rivas (Colón, Panama) got their first career double-doubles at NCCU as Rivas contributed 18 points and 13 boards.
C.J. Wiggins (Richmond, Va.) dished out a joint game-high five assists with teammate
Jordan Perkins (Greensboro, N.C.), and both scored in double-digits as Wiggins had 15 and Perkins had 11 points.
Brandon Goldsmith (Raleigh, N.C.) was the fifth Eagle in double-figures with 15 points and four rebounds.
Zacarry Douglas (Landover, Md.) joined Davis and Rivas with 10+ rebounds as he pulled down 11 with six points and two assists, and
Dominique Reid (Sicklerville, N.J.) was a force inside with eight points and eight rebounds.
The Owls knocked down 15 three-pointers as a team, and Jordan Gant (Waynesboro, Ga.) and Lukas Juozapavicius (Kaunas, Lithuania) splashed five apiece for 15 points. Tyquavion Dix (Orlando, Fla.) finished with a joint game-high 19 points with nine rebounds for the visitors.
The Eagles will remain home for the weekend and host Southern on Sunday, Nov. 19 before heading west for a three-game road trip.
