N.C. Central Women's Basketball

The Lady Eagles suffered their first MEAC home loss of the season on Monday, dropping a 73-50 decision to Howard University. NCCU (3-14 Overall, 2-3 MEAC) has lost three consecutive games.

Senior Morgan Jones leads the maroon and gray with 11.8 points per game, including 1.8 made 3-pointers, and 1.9 steals per game. Jones has scored double-digit points in 13 of 17 games, including her last 10 performances.

The next four Lady Eagles all average within two points of each other: sophomore guard Dominique Adams, who leads the MEAC with 35.8 minutes played per game, nets 6.6 points and 4.5 rebounds; sophomore Deja McCain averages 6.5 points and a team-high 5.5 rebounds per contest; sophomore Rodneysha Martin tallies 5.9 points per game, but missed the last game due to injury; and freshman Jada Blow tallies 5.7 points and 1.8 assists per game.

NCCU is 3-6 at home, but was swept by North Carolina A&T last season by scores of 76-54 (Durham) and 60-48 (Greensboro). Jones averaged 14.5 points against the Aggies in those two tilts.

The Lady Eagles defeated Delaware State, 68-63, in the first meeting of the season on Jan. 10 in McDougald-McLendon Arena. Jones and Adams scored 17 and 11 points, respectively, while McCain and junior Kierona Morton each pulled down 10 rebounds. However, NCCU is 0-8 on the road this season.

North Carolina A&T Women's Basketball

The Aggies are the defending MEAC Tournament champions and preseason favorites. North Carolina A&T (7-12 Overall, 3-3 MEAC) has won its last two games, last defeating Howard University 63-55 last Saturday.

Senior guard Dana Brown, who was a Third Team All-MEAC selection in her first season with the Aggies last year, leads NCAT with 12.4 points and paces the league with 2.9 made 3-pointers per contest. Classmate and fellow guard Aliyah Kilpatrick is scoring 10.8 points per game, grabbing 5.3 rebounds and leads the squad with 3.3 assists and 2.8 steals per game.

Brown scored 17 and 19 points in NCAT's two victories over NCCU last season. Junior Kayla Green, who is scoring 7.6 points per game this season, also scored in double figures in both of those triumphs.

Delaware State Women's Basketball

The Hornets ended a 13-game losing streak with a road victory at South Carolina State University last Saturday, but then dropped their next contest at Savannah State University on Monday. Delaware State University (2-7 Overall, 1-5 MEAC) will host Florida A&M University on Saturday before hosting NCCU on Monday.

Reigning MEAC Rookie of the Year NaJai Pollard has showed no signs of a sophomore slump as the forward leads the league in both scoring and rebounding with 18.8 points per game and 9.9 rebounds per contest. Pollard is shooting 53.9-percent from the field (tops in the league) and is fifth in the conference with 2.2 blocks per game.

Junior guard Mikah Aldridge is the Hornets other double-digit scorer with 13.6 points per game. Aldridge also tops DSU with nearly two steals per contest.

Pollard posted a double-double with game-high totals of 27 points and 13 rebounds in the Hornets road loss at NCCU just 21 days before the second meeting. Aldridge added 23 points in that contest.
