DURHAM, N.C. – The North Carolina Central University women's basketball team will try and remain undefeated at home in Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) play when the Lady Eagles entertain Howard University in McDougald-McLendon Arena on Monday at 5:30 p.m.
NCCU will be providing pay-per-view video ($8.95) of the game along with free audio and live stats. NCCU Sports Network broadcaster Mike Wood will be on air with the play-by-play. Fans can follow NCCU women's basketball all season by visiting

N.C. Central Women's Basketball
The Lady Eagles dropped a pair of MEAC road games last week to two of the top three teams in the league standings at Norfolk State University (71-40) and Hampton University (60-36). NCCU (3-13 Overall, 2-2 MEAC) is 3-5 at home and has won its last two games in McDougald-McLendon Arena.
Guard
Morgan Jones continues to have a strong senior season for the Lady Eagles. Jones paces the team with 11.5 points per game, including 1.7 made 3-pointers per contest. She has scored in double-digits in 12 games. The Stockbridge, Georgia, product is coming off a career-high five steal performance and leads NCCU with 1.8 steals per game.
Sophomores
Deja McCain and
Dominique Adams follow Jones each averaging 6.8 points per game. McCain is grabbing a team-high 5.5 rebounds per contest and Adams leads the league with 35.6 minutes played per game.
Other top performers for the Lady Eagles include sophomore
Rodneysha Martin, senior
Chantal Thomas and junior
Kierona Morton. Martin leads the MEAC with a .865 free throw shooting percentage, Thomas tops NCCU with 1.8 assists per game and Morton grabs 4.5 rebounds per game and a team-high 0.7 blocks per contest.
NCCU was handed a 68-61 home loss by Howard last season on Dec. 7, 2015. Jones highlighted play for the Lady Eagles in that contest with 17 points, five assists, four rebounds and one steal.
Howard Women's Basketball
The Bison suffered their first MEAC loss on Saturday, falling 63-55 at North Carolina A&T State University. Howard (7-9 Overall, 3-1 MEAC) is currently fourth out of 13 teams in the league standings and is one of the hotter teams in the conference having won five straight games before slipping up to the defending champion Aggies.
Senior Te'Shya Heslip has been a key to Howard's success with 15.9 points, 5.3 assists and 4.3 steals per game. She ranks fourth in the league in scoring and tops the conference in the other two categories. Heslip ranks third nationally in steals per game and 40th in assists per contest.
Senior forward Sydni Johnson was a Second Team All-MEAC performer last year and is averaging 10.4 points and 4.6 rebounds per game. Freshman forward Imani Bryant is fourth in the MEAC with 8.1 rebounds per game. Junior forward Erin Blaine adds to a deep frontcourt with 10.1 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Johnson scored 20 points and pulled down six rebounds in helping the Bison to their seven-point win over NCCU last season. Howard is 7-0 all-time against the Lady Eagles.
