Aissa Muamba won her third straight singles match to highlight play for the North Carolina Central University women's tennis team in a 5-2 road loss at Gardner-Webb University Saturday afternoon.
The Runnin' Bulldogs snapped a three-game losing streak to improve to 7-13. The Lady Eagles dip to 3-12 after suffering their sixth consecutive loss.
Sophomore
Jamie Rogers recorded NCCU's other point with a singles win at No. 4 in the lineup. Rogers squeaked out her straight-set triumph by a narrow score of 7-5, 7-6 (7-3).
Muamba won in the top slot, prevailing 6-4, 6-2.
Muamba (8-5) and Rogers (8-6) lead the Lady Eagles with eight wins apiece.
Gardner-Webb secured the doubles point with wins on courts two and three. The Runnin' Bulldogs then clinched the victory with four singles wins – all in straight sets.
NCCU next visits Hampton University on Saturday, April 16 at 2 p.m.
