NCCU Women’s Basketball Inks Pair to Begin 2016-17 Signing Class

DURHAM, N.C. – Head coach Vanessa Taylor has announced the signing of guard Kieche White and combo guard/forward Erin Houser to National Letter of Intent (NLI) to play women's basketball at North Carolina Central University for the 2016-17 season.

"We are extremely excited about our initial commitments for our 2016 class," said Taylor. "This Lady Eagle class adds offensive assistance, talented depth and versatility to our team."

White is a 5-5 guard from Washington, D.C., who played high school basketball at Friendship Collegiate Academy. White scored over 1,900 points for the Knights and was her team MVP for four consecutive seasons, leading the squad to the state championships each time and was team captain for two years. Other prep awards for White included PCSAA Player of the Year in 2016, All-PCSAA (x3), Washington Post All-Met (x3) and DCSAA All-State (x2).

"Kieche is a talented guard with a great feel for the game," commented Taylor. "She brings great skills to us with sharp shooting from the perimeter, craftiness getting to the basket and good court vision."

Houser is a 6-2 combo guard/forward from Orangeburg, South Carolina, who will be graduating from Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School. She averaged 12.8 points, six rebounds, three steals and two assists per game for the Bruinettes in her senior season. Houser was ranked as one of the top 20 girls basketball players in the state of South Carolina and garnered numerous awards, including Region 8 3A Player of the Year, All-State and T & D All-Area Team.

"Erin is a long athletic forward who has a very versatile skill set," stated Taylor. "She runs the floor well, dominates the boards and can score inside and out."
