Box ScoreDAYTONA BEACH, Fla. – Bethune-Cookman University won all five singles matches contested in straight sets en route to a 7-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference (MEAC) men's tennis victory over visiting North Carolina Central University at the City Island Tennis Center Tuesday afternoon.
The Wildcats (8-9 Overall, 2-0) remained undefeated in the league and the Eagles (1-9, 0-3) are still in search of their first conference victory.
Bethune-Cookman started the day with 6-2 and 6-4 wins in doubles action. The Wildcats then took the top five singles matches in straight sets.
Freshman
Gabriel Cucalon had NCCU's closest match, losing at No. 2 singles to 2015 First Team All-MEAC selection Walid Gtari by a score of 7-5, 6-4.
Sophomore
Kert Kilumets had a hard-fought first set before falling in the first singles bout to fellow sophomore Alexander Chepik by a margin of 7-5, 6-1. Kilumets played the tightest doubles match in a 6-4 loss partnering with senior
Thomas Persico.
NCCU is next scheduled to host Emmanuel (Ga.) College on Sunday at Noon.
